Green Stuff

The contractors have finally put down the grass seed. Woot!

Why I always cringe when I see Mike Rowe climb into old underground fuel tanks

The below linked story is just one example of the unseen dangers of .

Gas leak kills 3 workers at Port Everglades – 05/21/2008 – MiamiHerald.com

It is possible that the folks at do test for such hazards, and just don’t include the testing in the aired shows, but it would make me worry less if they showed the testing (or at least let us know that they did).

And for Pete’s sake Mike, wear safety glasses more often!

May '08 Annapolis Chantey Sing

My usual dinner buddies can’t make it tonight. I’m going to reserve a table for myself, but that table currently has 3 empty chairs. Anybody want to co-reserve? I was going to reserve for 7:45pm so I can get seated and started before the action starts. Email to jacqueline at cordelya dot net, if you please.

Weeds in My Garden!

Since I didn’t live on site at my house last year, my garden went to the dogs weeds. I started cleaning it up today, but I was wondering about the identity of many of the uninvited residents. So, I went around and took a whole bunch of pictures of the various plants, and posted them to Flickr.

If you’ve been fighting the war against weeds for a while (or not) and you know the names of common mid-atlantic weeds, would you kindly take a look at the photos and see if you can identify any of my weeds?

Pennsic 37: Here we come!

Having received our tax pre-bate, Dirksharpe and I are registered for Pennsic 37! We’ve done the Pennsic pre-registration shuffle, ~and~ paid our camp fees for our camp!

Hooray for not procrastinating!

Credit Card Skimmed, Possibly at Privateer Fest

My debit card was skimmed recently and then used last night and this morning at two gas stations (one near Philly, the other somewhere in CT). I suspect that it was skimmed at the Privateer Festival two weekends ago (April 19th) when Jason and I ate at a restaurant. That was the last time the card was out of my sight, and I’d been trying to eat at home as much as possible prior to that.

So, if you were at the Privateer Festival, and you ate at a restaurant, keep an eye on your recent transactions for suspect items. If you end up finding some, don’t forget to file police reports – one with the police where you live, and one with Baltimore City Police.

And no worries, I’ve got my checklist and I’m following it!

A few final notes on this weekend

As you may remember, this weekend is Open House at my place. We have some last minute items to reveal.

  • We made some changes to the basement:

    • We hung up black cotton fabric behind the bar and along the staircase perimeter, so now the basement is visually halved.
    • We also have both of our fluorescent-tube style blacklights mounted to the rafters, so you may want to wear something blacklight reactive. Or not.
  • We have two kegs for the party:
    • One 1/6 keg of Woodchuck Amber Cider
    • One 1/2 keg of Woodchuck Dark & Dry
  • Our only pet has scales and lives in water, so don’t worry about those pet allergies!
  • The Menu:
    • Burgers & Dogs (we have a small amount of veggie burgers if needed)
    • 7-Layer Dip
    • Tabouleh
    • Baked potatoes with toppings bar
    • Marinated cheese
    • Assorted veggies & dips
    • Assorted cheeses & crackers

We’ve also heard that there will be taco salad

So far, we’ve only heard from two people about crash space. If you think you’ll need to stay over, please let us know!

Don’t forget your funny hat!
