I used to require registration in order to post comments on my blog without having to deal with spam. I have officially done away with that, and installed the Wordpress plugin for reCaptcha. Now you simply fill out the comment form, complete the captcha, click “Submit”, et voila! you’ve submitted a comment! Try it out here!
Psst! If you can’t read the text presented by reCaptcha, there’s a refresh button you can click to get a different set of texts.

I just noticed today that the RSS feed for Dirk Sharpe’s blog was experiencing Fatal Errors. I fixed the error and it is now back up and running. For those on LJ, his syndication username is “dirksharpe“. He just posted a new post today, too!

One of my plugins was breaking my RSS feeds, so nobody’s seen anything from me since mid-January. The offending plugin has been disabled and the feeds appear to be working now.

Somehow, my RSS feeds got mangled, and Feedburner was getting 404 errors when trying to pull my feeds, both posts and comments. For the LJ folks, who make up roughly 80% of my readership, Feedburner grabs posts from my site, re-packages them, and presents the re-packaged posts to the LJ RSS crawler. This allows me to keep track of how many readers I have, and lets me splice in goodies like Del.icio.us links and Flickr photos. I discovered the problem when I went to turn off the Flickr integration so you don’t get inundated with the massive amounts of photos I’ll be posting tomorrow (there’ll be another post about that). It has now been fixed, and the next time the LJ bot visits Feedburner, it should pull this post and probably lots of other posts. You may want to visit my site to catch posts you may have missed.

My “entries” table in my MySQL database crashed and, as a result, I lost all of the data in that one table [thus, lost all of my entries]. I have re-located the old entries to The Old Blog Archive and will just start fresh with the database. Beware of broken links until I can get them all fixed. When in doubt, try changing “public_html” in the url to “oldblog”.
Also - please note: if you had previously linked to one of my articles, you will need to modify the permalink to unbreak it.
